This beautiful coastal town of white-washed houses
and fishing village atmosphere has, in recent years become a
prime tourist destination with some of the finest beaches in
the south of Spain.
Although it is a small town, it offers kilometres of wide clean
beaches awarded with the Blue Flag by the European Union. The
beaches, the claim to fame of the town, are varied: from endless
stretches of golden sand to secluded coves to beaches just off
the urban centre.
The most famous beach is Los Bateles, a long and sandy beach
with lateral winds and lively waves. On each side are the beaches
of Castilnovo, a wilder beach, and La Fontanilla, nearer to
the town centre.
Towards Roche, there are wonderfully secluded and peaceful coves
with reddish sand where bathers often go nude.
