Caños de Meca

This is one of the most popular destination in Cádiz, and without a doubt one of the most original and unique.

Historically, Los Caños has been a refuge of hippies and bohemians attracted by its exuberant natural landscape and its isolation. Little remains of this spirit however, the passage of time and the popularity of its beaches brings more tourists every year, especially in July and August.

Another attraction of these beaches is their history. It was here that the famous battle of Trafalgar took place 200 years ago, commemorated by the famous square in London, which cost the lives of hundreds of sailors including the Admirals Nelson and Churruca.

For the tourist, Los Caños offers a beautiful natural environment of pine forests, cliffs and clean crystal waters. Its youthful atmosphere is relaxed and alternative with limited accommodation and public services.

While accommodation options are limited, they are growing day by day. There are a few hostels and accommodation is predominately in the form of private homes or apartments for rent. Rural tourism is an attractive option in this area.
